One of my favorite wellness treatments is whole body cryotherapy. It feels so invigorating to go into a super chilled chamber for 1-3 minutes. Not only does it wake you up immediately, it also helps detoxify your whole body, strengthen your immune system, and improve your sleep patterns.
We’ve all experienced cryotherapy at some point. If you’ve ever iced a sore muscle or even taken an ice bath, that’s cryotherapy. Extreme cold has been used therapeutically to reduce inflammation, lessen pain, and accelerate muscle and tissue repair.
Whole body cryotherapy is very similar to ice baths that you see professional athletes doing after practice or a match, but instead of sitting in ice water that’s between 32 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes, in cryotherapy, your body is exposed to cold air ranging from -200 to -256 degrees Fahrenheit for 1-3 minutes. It’s also dry cold instead of a wet cold, so it’s generally easier to tolerate and safer for the body.
As I’m all about finding ways to simplify your selfcare, spending 1-3 minutes in a cryotherapy chamber every once in a while is more doable than an ice bath. Every few weeks you can find me at any one of Cryohealthcare’s Los Angeles locations. Their West Hollywood location is connected to one of my favorite coffee shops, Emma’s Coffee Co, where you’ll be able to find Just Add Water™ smoothies!
Have you tried cryotherapy before?
